Our guide on the top things to see and do in the wonderful market town of Faversham.

The medieval market town of Faversham has become a blossoming hotspot for house hunters, so it comes as no surprise that several developments have successfully enlarged both its area size and economy. In fact, a 2021 study by Garrington revealed Faversham as one of the top places in the UK to live. We think this is due to the many offerings it has as both a town to visit and a place to live.

Faversham's market is the oldest in Kent, and boasts local fresh cooked food, produce and craft stalls, you can easily lose yourself in the beauty of the cobbled streets as you gaze at the endless history surrounding you. For many, it has always been home, but lately more wish to possess that accolade by finding their way onto the property ladder in Faversham or its surrounding areas. With gorgeous villages such as Selling, Painters Forstal and Graveney, who are we to disagree?

The likeability factor about Faversham includes the great road and rail transport links and being in easy reach of nearby Canterbury, Maidstone and Dover. London is also just over an hour away by train for work or pleasure. This means you most certainly get the best of both worlds if you live here, as the feel of country living encapsulates the residents, without them needing to go far for a busier hustle and bustle.

Faversham's quintessentially British high street is home to an array of independent shops, galleries, tea rooms and inns, with visitors flocking from near and far for its annual Car Transport Weekend that took place last weekend and Hop Festival in September. If you're a fan of Christmas, they even host a Carols At The Market each December, where one and all gather for festivities. It truly holds a special place in the hearts of many, and we are positive you too would fall in love with it.

The beautiful thing about the town is that you can do so much, for such little cost. Close by you'll find Oare Marshes; a nature reserve for keen birdwatchers. An area of serenity along Harty Ferry leads you by path to Faversham Creek, and outstanding views, whatever the season. An activity good for the soul, we think you'll agree.

As more of you grow a keen interest in Faversham, we are equally as keen to grow a passion for helping you buy and sell there. Houses currently are in such demand that their time on the market isn't very long at all, and renting is no different. Perhaps you live here or have a desire to move to the area, if so, Sandersons could help you.

If you have never visited before, make a date in your diary to do so. Why not accompany the gorgeous spring sunshine and head over to Faversham this weekend? We have compiled six other great top attractions in for you or your family to experience. These are:

There really is something for everybody. Sandersons UK also proudly sponsor the fantastic Faversham Strike Force who go a long way to make the football dreams of many come true!
