Spring into Action: Sell now to beat the rush

Spring into Action: Sell now to beat the rush

January may seem the last month to have in mind when considering a spring / summer move, but it is the action you take now that will secure a smooth transition to your new home during the finer months.

A new year brings a fresh start, a chance to reset. The thought of moving comes naturally after the festive season for many people, this is why property portals always have their busiest days of the year just after Christmas. Coming off the back of the uncertainty of 2023, we're expecting the property market to be busy at the start of this year as mortgage rates fall and house prices stabilise.

Spring is one of the most popular times of the year to come to the market, homes are filled with light again, and colour is returning to gardens. Despite the benefits of marketing in spring, we believe that this year, getting ahead of the rush is a valuable tactic for sellers. Selling sooner gives them the flexibility to pounce on their dream property when it first launches. Instead of rushing to get it on the market in the spring when there is far more competition.

You will find that buyers are able to see past the winter garden and darker interiors as their property is the same. Our photographers often mention how the low winter sun can create some really dramatic and beautiful images of properties, so just because of the time of year, it doesn’t mean that your home isn’t going to photograph well. Our photographers are also able to take new external images as the seasons change so your property listing always looks up to date. We have a handy guide on how to prepare your property for marketing here.

We understand putting your home on the market is a big decision. For sellers that aren't quite ready to market their homes yet, but want to be in the position to do so. We recommend they get 'sale ready', we can come to value their property, and one of our in-house photographers can prepare the marketing. We can complete every step so we can launch the property as soon as they are ready. We know even the smoothest sales can be stressful, working in this way can help make the process far more straightforward. There might be little tasks around the house to complete too, perhaps a lick of paint or fixing a dodgy door, it's a good idea to get these jobs done before putting your property on the market and without pressure.

The sooner sellers start the process of marketing their home, the sooner they can enjoy their new one, and selling now means that they should be able to enjoy the summer in their new home.
